Conservation Reserve Program(CRP) provides management flexibility to farmers and rachers to implement high-priority conservation practices on fragile lands and along waterways. Commodity Credit Corporation makes annual rental payments based on the 'agriculture rental value' of the land and provides monetary assistance to help establish the practices. The contracts last from 10 to 15 years.
Hillsdale County has 740 contracts for which 2.1 million dollars was paid in annual rental payments.
