Approximately 20% of all new moms in the county will not have a high school diploma. About 4% of new moms in the county are less than age 18 and an additional 10% are ages 18 to 19.

In 1998, a survey was done of 403 Hillsdale County adults. Of those surveyed, 21.1% said they did not have a high school diploma. The 1990 US Census for the county found 24.4% adults without a diploma.
