Anthony Frudakis
|
Born in Bellows Falls, Vermont, Tony was raised in an artistic home environment; both his parents were artists. In his early twenties he was apprenticed to his father, EvAngelos Frudakis, and then attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. His work often expressed homage to his Greek heritage, but always in a contemporary mode.
Tony has become a successful commission artist regularly engaged by prominent corporations, developers and private collectors. He has won countless sculpture awards including six alone from the National Sculpture Society and the 1991 Artist's Fund Prize from the National Academy of Design. Listed as Who's Who in American Art, he is currently teaching sculpture, drawing and art history at Hillsdale College. "Nature and Beauty inspire me, I search in clay for natural images, trying to bring them into focus."--Tony Frudakis
