Law Enforcement, Fire & Ambulance Committee: Purpose and Scope Law Enforcement: Meets on the Monday prior to the regular council meeting with the Police Chief to review the monthly report. Studies and discusses the issues and needs of the Department and the village residents. Informs the President and the council of the issues and needs. Study and discuss alternative courses of action and presents these to the President and the council along with the Committee’s recommendations. Prepare a draft of qualifications for Village Police Chief for approval by the council. Prepare a draft working agreement with the Chief, including salaries and benefits, for approval by the council. After discussion with the Chief, prepare a tentative fiscal budget by January 30 and submit it to the Budget and Finance Committee with recommendations.
Fire & Ambulance: Attend the meetings, held on the second Thursday of each month, and report to the council significant decisions
Streets, Drains, Water and Sewer Committee: Purpose and Scope Meets monthly with the Village Engineer and Lagoon Operator to review the issues and needs of the Village. Reviews the monthly maintenance report. Studies alternatives and presents them to the council with recommendations for appropriate action. Assists the Engineer with inspections as needed. Provides fiscal input to the Budget and Finance Committee prior to the budget meeting. Prepares and presents to the council a monthly report including the status of ongoing projects
Budget & Finance Committee: Purpose and Scope A budget is a plan of financial operation for a period of time, including an estimate of all proposed expenditures from the funds of a local village, and the proposed means of financing the expenditures of the village. The budget is the plan for revenues and expenses to assure the delivery of day-to-day services for the village. The committee will establish a list of priorities for consideration by the Council. Budgets consist of: Present revenues and expenditures for the previous fiscal year. Those estimated for the current fiscal year. Those estimated for the next fiscal year. Display the amount of surplus or deficit existing at the end of the previous fiscal year and those estimated for the current year. Present the proposed capital outlays and sources of financing of them. Achieve a balance between revenues and expenditures. Follow other requirements of the Uniform Budgeting and Accounting Act. The Committee shall meet as needed to accomplish these ends. This Committee shall meet prior to the regular Council meeting to review the bills and make recommendations to the Council.
Library, Planning, Region II, H.C.I.D.C. & Events: Purpose & Scope The Purpose and Scope of this Committee is to gain information regarding the creation of new businesses in our community and explore the possibility of providing assistance for businesses creating new jobs in the Village of Waldron. Emphasis will be placed upon State and Federal Grants and Village programs that encourage businesses to locate in Waldron. This Committee also assists the Waldron District Library using any means available in order to enrich our community. We work with the Hillsdale Industrial Development Commission to assist in attracting commercial activity in the area. We assist in the planning, coordination and management of local events.
Ordinances and Legal Committee: Purpose and Scope The Ordinance and Legal Committee will meet at the call of the chairperson. The committee will review and propose changes to the ordinances of the Village of Waldron and bring said ordinances to the council for approval. Legal The Legal Committee will research all items referred to the committee and report back to the council.
Parks, Sidewalks and Trees: Purpose and Scope This Committee maintains a park for the enjoyment of the residents of the Village of Waldron. On occasion, the park is used by other than Village residents for reunions and picnics. Some make donations to help support the park. The Committee scrutinizes the requests for sidewalk repair. Limited funds are available for sidewalk repair and the Village tries to match dollars with the property owner making the request. Past Arbor Day activities have generated donated trees, which have been planted with the assistance of the FFA.
